Thanks to advanced technologies, the creation, collection and transmission of data today no longer pose any problems. However, these data volumes are growing continuously and are also very complex, for which reason data processing is becoming a challenge. The term "big data" is used in the scope of Industry 4.0 to describe large and complex data volumes that cannot be collected with conventional data processing methods. However, big data does not only represent a big challenge, but also, for some companies, a big opportunity. With big data technologies, companies can improve their customer service because of being able to address both the wishes and the problems of customers in a more targeted way.
